Reflections on Trade Facilitation and Border Crossing

Customs procedures have been improving since the World Trade Organization (WTO) Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) came into force last February, bringing simplification, modernization and harmonization of export and import processes among all WTO Members.

In-house experts from multinational companies and TFA experts will discuss how companies can take advantage of the new international treaty rules to improve customs compliance, including :

  • Release and clearance of goods (e.g., pre-arrivals, risk management, electronic payments, audits)
  • Authorized operators and expedited shipments
  • Advance rulings
  • Customs classification, valuation and cooperation
  • VAT
  • Opportunity for traders to comment on new domestic laws and rules
